Lic agents helps protect health, life and properties by helping individuals and families opt their best Insurance policies available in the market. They recommend policies depending on the policyholder’s extant and financial conditions.

Role Of LIC Agent


Lic agent plays the role of third party and fix ties between Insurance company and Clients. Some Lic agent work full time while other just like to work in their mean time for some extra financial support. However every Lic agent in their regular concern have to deal with different clients, giving explanations on different policies, savings schemes, medic-claims and many other such policies offered by Insurance companies. The core value for any successful Agent is to persuade the clients and make them buy a policy. In plus, they need to collect the amount of Insurance policy on monthly or yearly basis from their clients and pay back to Insurance Corporation (LIC) of India.

Who can become a Lic Agent?


  • Students, retired persons, House workers, call center workers, Businessmen, C.S, C.A.s, College M/F, Teachers etc.
  • Minimum Qualification: 10+2
  • Age: 18 and plus

How to become Lic agent?


In order to become Lic agent all you need to do is to contact the nearest Lic branch from your area and look for Development officer in that branch. As you meet the development officer or Branch manager, they gonna take your interview and will send you to the nearest training agency in your area.  The training course is a total of 100 hours and cost around Rs 625 and covers all the topic of Lic.  After completing your training Course you can sit for the Pre-licencing examination taken by (IRDA) Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority.  After passing the exam set by IRDA you will get the license of Authorized Insurance agent from IRDA. The branch office will then appoint you as an agent and you shall be a team member down your development officer. Your development officer will give you enough training for you to succeed in the market.

  • Learn from rejections.

Documents required for Lic agent?


  • Black and white 8 photos of passport size.
  • 10+2 or graduate certificate (4 copies)
  • Residential proof (2 copies)
  • Pan card (2 copies)
  • Rs 625/-

    I work in force, since i have a enough time lying idle i want to take lic agent as part time job. All i needed to know is can govt. enployee also work as an lic agent and is it enough of X passed for recruitment? Kindly suggest.

      no govt employee cant be an agent of lic till he is in service.
      but u can take agency in the name of ur wife or son who are 18 and above and atleast 10th passed
